Best/Safest Baby monitor?

It seems like all these choices we make for baby are getting more and more overwhelming! Does anyone have any recommendation on a safe baby monitor that they like and is also (at least somewhat) affordable? Thanks!

We got a Motorola that is compatible on the phones but also has a hand held (I wanted that for babysitters so they didn't have access all the time to the baby) it was $250 so not sure what your budget is. Even though baby isn't born yet, we have played with it and really like it

What is affordable to you? (Price range) The monitor we are going to get is $170 which i believe is about mid range
