Why do doctors want you to wait?

I just had a miscarriage at 4w6d. The advice nurse suggested waiting one cycle before trying again. Why?

They just want you to have one period so they can date the pregnancy without an ultrasound. There is no medical reason to wait, it just makes things easier. Some doctors recommend that you wait just so you will have more time to heal emotionally.

I was in the Doctor yesterday for my miscarriage and she told me that most don't say to wait anymore. As soon as you're done bleeding and your levels are back down to zero to try again. She explained that she thought it was just a selfish reason to wait a cycle so they could put a date on your pregnancy. After a miscarriage you're a higher risk pregnancy anyway so they should want to see you to do an ultrasound sooner anyway and can date it that way! Good luck!!

Dating is one reason. My doctor wanted me to wait one cycle because I had a lot of bleeding. He said in his 35 years he's seen a lot of recurrent miscarriages in pregnancies that occur directly following a miscarriage without waiting rather then those that wait awhile. So we decided to wait anyway.

I found out june 19 th that my baby didnt have a heart beat and had to have a D&C 4 days later my body wouldnt release it.. My dr told me the minimum wait time was 2 months so your uterus could heal and your cycle could regulate... Not everyone has the same miscarriage so your body will be different in healing.. But id advise you to listen to your dr and wait a few months so you can heal.. Best of luck to you and im sorry you lost your baby i too know how you feel...

My doctor told me on Monday that we can start trying again right away. A lot of doctors don't recommend waiting any more.... like others have said I believe it's for dating purposes also have heard if your cervix is still open you're more prone to infection.

Multiple reasons, The main one is to track your cycle easier. I flat out asked why and she told me mainly so the lining in your uterus builds back up, and its nice and healthy and you have a good level of progesterone to carry the baby.

I think it's just so you can know more or less when you ovulated since you will have a period to go off of. My doctor told me I technically could try right away, but he recommended that I wait three cycles and get on birth control to reduce the cysts on my ovaries. I got pregnant right after stopping the birth control with my rainbow.
