At 34 wks my 24 hr urine test came back that I had preeclampsia, which totally explains my massive headaches. That week I started non stress test 2xs per wk, an ultrasound once a wk, plus my weekly Dr appt. my dr informed me that he could mk the decision to deliver me at any time but would not allow me to carry past 37 wk.
Once I stopped working and was able to get the necessities, my headaches dulled down a lot, still there but not as sharp and pulsating, so We managed to make it to 37 wks.
I was admitted into the hospital at night on a Tuesday, they inserted cervidill around 10pm and the contractions started coming. I was already 2 cm for about 2 wks but my cervix was still very thick. I planned on getting an epidural as this is my 3rd child and I realized after baby #2 I just couldn't take the pain. I wanted to try to wait until I was at least 5 cm before it was administered, but the pain was getting bad and quick.
My nurse was able to convince me to get the epi advising the pain is different when being forced into labor. I listened and at 2:30am the epi was all in place and by 10 to 3am I was fast asleep.
The morning nurse woke me up at 6 to start my potocin drip and my dr came in at 7:45 to break my water. When he checked me I was 3 cm and 50% effaced, and in so much pain yet again. He told me I can get the epi and I told him I had it already. The nurse called for them to come give me some more as the 1st one had wore off. The second dosage was administered by 8:15 and the anesthesiologist said it would take about 15 mins to kick in. 8:51 I'm trying hard to breathe through the contractions and not start screaming, the contractions were soaring off of the paper when I looked at the monitor. So the nurse said she would call the anesthesiologist to see why I was still in so much pain. When she returned she wanted to do a vaginal check to see if I dilated anymore and at 8:57 I was completely dilated and ready to push. My princess made her big debut on Wed August 10 at 9:09 am. Weighing 6lbs 11oz My smallest baby but caused the most pain. All worth it, more my only Daughter
