Miscarriage in the second trimester? Someone?

So I was thinking I was 17 weeks pregnant and went in for ultrasound and turns out that we lost our baby at 13 weeks, the doctor says it maybe some chromosomic issue with the baby and sent it to test, anyone has had this before??

I am so sorry for your loss. I had a baby girl and delivered her at 20 weeks. I held her and cherish those moments I had with her. Make sure to take all the time you need.   And don't let anyone make you feel your grief isnt real. Sending you big hugs thoughts and prayers

I went through the same thing. After my D&c the doctor sent tissues for chromosomal testing and everything came back normal. They did however identify that I have a blood clotting disorder (which they don't attribute to the loss).  We have no explanation other than bad luck and to be honest, for me personally,  all the testing searching for an answer made the grieving process harder.

I had a similar loss. Went for my 18 week check up and they couldnt find a heart beat. Our daughter stopped growing at 14 weeks and I needed to have a D&E. I too had testing done and everything with the tissue looked fine. They did tell me that they do pretty generic genetic testing and that it still was most likely a genetic issue. This advice was from a Maternal Fetal Medicine consultation.  The doctor said a baby doesn't just stop growing unless there is an issue with the baby or the placenta, and it's usually the baby's genetics. I hope this helps. I know how much it sucks. It was our first pregnancy and it's been almost a year and we are terrified to try again.

Sandra, first I offer you a big giant hug with my sympathies.

I've had 2 second trimester miscarriages in the last 13 months. We lost Eli at 20 weeks due to a cord incident on November 14, 2013. And then lost Julian at 16 weeks on May 16, 2014.  It's a brutal, heartbreaking road.

I would encourage you to let them test the baby. We did and learned that one was a fluke and the other was due to a blood clot This revealed important implications for future babies for us as we learned that I have a blood clotting disorder. While your loss may not have a trigger like that, I would recommend testing to be sure future pregnancies are safe for you.

My first loss was devastating at 15 weeks. Had a d&e and it was a perfectly normal baby.... Chalked up to bad luck. It was the worst thing I've ever been through.
