I went into labor at 36w5d totally unprepared because I just thought I had more time. I was woken up by my water breaking around 5:30 AM. I felt wet like excess discharge or maybe as if I peed myself. I laid in bed for a little bit to see if it was continuous or not. I felt a tiny gush again so I nudged my husband and told him that I think my water broke. I got up to go to the bathroom just to be sure I wasn't peeing myself. It would leak continuously so I was pretty sure that it was my water that broke. About 15 mins after getting up I started having contractions which felt like mild period cramps and were about 7 mins apart. I started panicking because my hospital bag wasn't packed and I was slightly earlier than full term and just a week before at my regular appt my baby was breeched. Managed to pack my bag and got to the hospital close to 7 AM still having mild contractions about 4 mins apart at this point. Got admitted, they checked to make sure that I was actually leaking amniotic fluid and whether or not baby was still breeched. He was and it was definitely amniotic fluid. Once those were confirmed, doctor said we were definitely having a baby and it would have to be by c-section. My contractions started getting more intense and frequent at this point. I always wanted a natural, unmedicated birth so this was definitely not how I imagined things would pan out. However with how intense my contractions got I was anticipating that spinal they were going to give me 😩. Within no time, I was prepped for my c-section and my beautiful son was born at 8:26 AM weighing 6lbs 14oz, 19" long and perfectly healthy. I experienced such joy when I saw him for the first time in my husband's arms. Not how I imagined his birth but I am so thankful for a beautiful, healthy baby boy.
