Decrease breast milk... help???

Question

My milk supply is going down and I'm only 4 weeks postpartum.... I just don't know what to do... I feel so inadequate not giving my baby what he needs. He's a big baby and eats a lot and I just don't carry enough of a supply for him. It really sucks and I don't want to give up breast feeding. It honestly makes me kind of emotional.

My son is a big baby, in the 97th percentile. Everyone was so sure I wasn't making enough because he always acts hungry but the truth is he cluster feeds to bring up my supply so yeah it might seem like I don't have enough today, but eventually my milk supply grows to meet his needs. He's never gotten formula and I just feed him on demand. I don't listen to what anyone has to say, he's growing at a rapid rate (already in 6-9month sizes at 2.5 months) with plenty of wet diapers so he's clearly getting enough milk. I drink a LOT of water. I mean a LOT. Like 10-12 glasses a day. And I take fenugreek pills 3 times a day. I also eat oatmeal for breakfast every day. The water, oatmeal, fenugreek combo has worked really well for us.

Grape juice and power aid helped me. Mine is a big eater as well. Baby can also get more milk than a pump can. Or so I was told by a lactation consultant.

This happened to me around 3 months. I took Fenugreek, mother's milk tea, prenatal vitamins, and I pumped a lot. Pumping was very discouraging because in 10minutes I would only get a few drops. But something worked because my production went up again. We still needed to supplement with froozen breast milk or formula a little. Hope yours goes back up too. It took a few weeks to work for me, I almost gave up then finally saw important.
