Should child support be monitored?

I work in a liquor store and i see alot of people using their child support card to purchase liquor. Do you think that the state should monitor the money that is being spent? And what should be the punishment for buying alcohol with child support money?

I suppose it depends on how you look at it. Assuming I was the recipient of child support: If I paid all bills, food, clothing, child care etc out of my account, for whatever reason, I would view the child support as reimbursement for their share of child care needs. Now the money I would have spent on me, haircut or a drink whatever,

How I feel is this. Child support should be for the child. I have my sons father on CS and he hasn't paid it yet, my son is seven. When and if he ever does pay it all I will get back is what I paid out in the first place. He is supposed to pay 250 a month. My son plays every sport out there football 175. Plus traveling to his games every Saturday and practices and his food and snacks after and during these things range about 20-40 a week. Ok next he has basketball which is 50 for sign up but there are pictures for the team to take and again snacks 20-40 a week. and has tutoring that I pay for 100 a month. Not to mention gas that I use to take him to tutoring and sport practices probably about another 20 a week.  Next there is his grooming. He is a boy and of course boys grow fast 😅. His school shirts cost 28.00 a piece and his school shirts cost 25.00 a piece. I've had to get all new this year because he has grown. His school shoes not going to even break that down. Next his haircuts, 10 every two weeks. Then his life insurance policy is 10 a week. And his savings for college is 50 a month, extra when income taxes and bonuses are given. Then there is Christmas... yeah let's not even tally that up. Now one would say well he doesn't have to play sports which is true but should he be punished and not able to do said things because his dad doesn't pay child support? If his dad was in the home he would help pay it. Oh damn I forgot school supplies... oh I forgot to mention his rewards when he bring home good grades and his allowance for chores. I'm not going to limit him because of his crappy dad not paying child support. I bust my ass to make sure he has those things because honestly that's my whole purpose of living is for my kid. So while he's bitching about 250 a month that he doesn't pay I've surpassed that easily. So when and if he ever pays child support all it would really be is money back to me.

Psh yah lucky they even are receiving it in the first place. My mother didn't receive a dime from my sperm donor. Even though it was court ordered. She had to just work her ass off.

Child support, in my opinion, should be spent towards the child. Food, clothes, school uniforms/supplies, rent, basic utilities, medical copays, ECT. Basically, it should be spent on necessities for the child and not for the parent. Anything left over at the end of the month should be put away into a savings account for the child.

They don't go by what the child's needs are but what the fathers income is. Child support is 65% of what the dad makes, where I live at least. So a child with a dad that works at McDonald's could be receiving way less than if his dad was a lawyer (obviously lol). This is why I feel like child support is so out of wack. They have a blanket order for all families.

I think it depends on how you look at it! If the child is taken care of and really it's just to help supplement the guardian of the kids so they kiddos live a somewhat comfortable life (sometimes!!). I think of that parent spent their money on the child then to some extent I don't think it's awful if they use it on them something! I think it just depends on the situation and stuff!

My man's baby mama gets child support, complains she's broke, gets her hair done the next week....sorry but she can deal with roots or use box color if she's so broke. She doesn't even get her daughters hair trimmed. I don't think everyone makes poor decisions with the money they get but I think they should be monitored, yes.

Yup, my niece's baby mama does shit like this. She doesn't care about her daughter, but she won't give up custody because, as she has stated IN COURT none the less, that her "income" is her child support! I think child support should work somewhat like insurance, you go get what you need, they'll bill your account, and if it's "covered", it'll be paid through child support. For alcohol and other things not deemed for a child, you should get a bill that you are responsible for paying out of your own money. Just thought this shit up, so it might not be the best idea lol
