irregular periods and possible ovulation

Hi all i went to the doc the other day  because ive been ttc for 2 years and nothing has happened and i have super irregular periods well doc told me everything looks fine so im either not ovulating or my periods are to so light i cant see them or my body is absorbingall the blood well i havent bled in over three months but yesterday my right hip was hurting is it possible i was ovulating i made sure to have sex to hopefully to i get a positive out of this but has anyone had this issue like me and what was the out come of it and what do you think the possibility is that i was ovulating
