Is medium rare ok to eat when pregnant? 
Im going to be going to texas roadhouse for my baby shower dinner, and thats usually what i get?

I've been eating rare-medium rare steak my entire pregnancy and my doctor says it's totally fine. You have a weakened immune system when pregnant so that is why it is precaution to cook it more. If there is a slight bacteria your body may struggle to fight it off so you may end up with food poisoning. The chances are very slim as the outside of the steak is where bacteria is most likely to be and the heat from cooking it will kill it anyway.

Burgers are a different story, never eat a burger with pink as ground beef develops bacteria morse easily just because it is literally ground so all aspects of it are susceptible to bacteria growth.

Your baby will not be harmed from a medium rare steak.

I've been eating plenty of medium to well  meat throughout my pregnancy.... As long as it's not bleeding and I trust where it came from. I think it's fine

Ive been getting "medium" as my compromise ;) if you're going to a good steakhouse I think/hope they handle their product with good standards.

No. Not when you're pregnant, especially if prepared in a restaurant. Well done is your only option. For steak if it is high quality I let medium well slide, but for ground b3ef or anything low quality well done :(

No. It's best not to eat undercooked or raw meat during pregnancy, as it may make you ill and could even harm your baby. You may become infected with the toxoplasma parasite if you eat meat that is raw or pink and bloody in the middle.- Babycenter

I have heard that it has to be well-done to decrease risk of bacteria but have been meaning to ask my doc about it because my MIL wants to take my husband and me out to a really nice steakhouse...No point if I have to have the flavor cooked out of the meat though :-/ Sorry this is not helpful but I want to know the answer too so hopefully someone else has gotten a good answer from their doc and will comment!
