Safe Words

Do safe words work? Did you have a safe word growing up? Did you ever have to use it? Growing up my safe word was chicken nuggets. (I was 4 when I made it 😂) When my mom signed me up fr daycare she made sure my safe word was in my file. Anyone who picked me up knew I wouldn't be released without it. It really helped especially in awkward scary situations where asking my mom to come get me would possibly escalate the situation.

Ex: Once at my friends house, we were swimming in her pool and her dad kept eyeing me weird. I went inside and asked her mom if I could call my mom because I left my contacts. I got on the phone and said "Hey mom I forgot my contacts at home and also can you make sure my brother doesn't eat My chicken nuggets?" She was there in 5 minutes and a few months later the friend told me her dad got arrested for being indecent with a child.
