The way you parent...

sarah
What impressionable event happened in your life that effects the way you parent your own children?
I'll start it off!
When I was 6 months old my birth mother said she was going to work and just up and left me my 2 year old brother and my dad. Came back when we contacted her about 12 years later, told my dad she wished she never would have hurt him like she did because he was the most amazing man she ever met.
Fast forward to me having my son when I was 19. It was very difficult for me to let anyone hold him, feed him, babysit him, never let him out of site. I quit my job to become a bus driver for the fact that he could come to work with me. Even now at almost 4 years old he goes to pre school and I have random breakdown having to leave him. I can't help but think of the worst case scenarios for things that would prevent me from seeing him again.
WOAH baby that's some weight off my chest!  Family and people that "know me" think I'm just an over protective mom but I can't help but be the way I am with him or my anxiety gets uncontrollable. I just feel embarrassed feeling this way I just can't stop being this way.
What about you guys? What are somethings you do with/to your kids because of an event that happened to you in your past?
