I dated this guy for a year. I had just turned 18 and I really needed to figure myself out because I was never happy so I broke up with him. And I sorted myself out and he did too. We both had a lot to work on. And now we're talking again and he said he wants us again. So I'm 18 but my dads really strict and won't let me date anyone without his permission. So this guy said he'd talk to my dad... But he hasn't yet. And he's been kinda weird and I'm concerned that he doesn't want us to happen. Cus if he did... He would've made it happen. Idk. He said some things that kinda confused me

Well here's the update.... The reason he came back and put all this effort in was to get revenge on me for dumping him and he came back to hurt me and play me and oh my god. I'm torn apart

You don't need anyone who doesn't need you. Therefore if he's not making an effort then why should you? Try backing off for a few days, give him some space and take back your independence. If he's interested then he will show it!

It doesn't seem like he's fully ready to commit. If you honestly want to put yourself through the waiting, without developing a grudge, go ahead. But if not, value your time and your worth and try to move on.

Maybe he's just scared to talk to your dad. Ask him if that's the case and if not it sounds like he's not ready to commit. If he's too scared to talk to your dad you should try talking to your dad about him and introducing him yourself.
