Is fatigue normal with birth control?

im 17 and i started birth control a little over a month ago for menstrual pain purposes and i have never felt so tired or slept so much in my entire life. my exhaustion and sleep schedule are starting to frustrate my mom. i don't know how to explain to her why i'm so tired because i don't know if this is normal. help?
