8 year age gap...

A guy I have recently started liking is so great and a long lost family friends kid. I'm 16 and he's 24..... I thought he was 21 at first but he has a twin and turns out the twin is 24 so that means this guy is 24 obviously.... 
I feel like it's too much of an age gap and that's pushing me away a fair bit. Opinions pls? X
