Who's taking who's last name in marriage..

My fiance and I have been contemplating when we get married this summer that he will take my last name. The reason being is that I'm the last of the 'davis' girls and I feel like a letdown because I'm the end of the family tree. So if we have a boy and our last name is still Davis it will go on another generation. We brought the idea up to my parents and my dad actually teared up, he was very honored that my fiance would even consider changing his last name to keep out generation going.
