I went in on Sunday evening for a schedule induction, got the cervix softening medication around 6:30p.. had a few visitors and went to bed with the assistance of an abian. Little did I know contractions we're going g to start and I wasn't sleeping AT ALL Sunday night. They really started to hit me every 15-20 minutes and they we're clearly not BH anymore. Going to sleep inbtwen seemed to exhaust me more so I just stayed awake. The nurse came in around 5:30 to check me said I had dialated to 3 and took it out I was hoping the contractions would stop and I could get a few hrs of sleep before they started pitocin the next morning... NOPE! I was in active labor and they we're not stopping. They started my drip around 7:15a and it took no time for the contractions to kick it up a notch and bring the pain. I would breath through and was doing great. (Inhaling 5 sec through nose exhaling 7 sec out my mouth seemed to help me) being that I was in a birthing bed I had them lower the foot of the bed and raise the top which gave me a good space to kneel. I folded my body pillow and labored on my knees for what seemed like hrs. Around 10:15 I could feel a good contraction coming and I began to moan loudly then POP my water broke!! I called for my nurse and before she could get to my room I had my first contraction and boy was it different. They started coming quicker and harder from that point. I was about to cry because I had no one at the hospital with me that while morning and now I was in major pain (no pun intended) but luckily my momma came through the door 15 mind later and made me feel lots better. Labor continued and I told myself I was not getting an epidural at the beginning of my pregnancy.. that went out the window when they made me change from my good kneeling position to lay in the bed on my side due to babies heart rate dropping.. I felt the worst of my contractions in my but which is why I was on my knees, and as soon as I layed down I bagan to cry like a baby and the nurse asked if I wanted an epidural and all I could dmsay was yes hurry especially if I had to lay in bed on my back until this was finished.. well 20 mi s later the Dr cones him with a light from the heavans shining on his bed. The process took awhile but he was great, it did hurt but was so worth it after not sleeping at all the night before and being so tired at this point. The only thing that I felt was pressure in my bottom which was nothing compared to full blown contractions.. So I got a little nap in and got woken up by a nurse checking my cervix at 5p I had only progressed to a 6. Babies heart rate was dropping a little so the drip got turned off. I labored on my own up til 6p while the Dr was monitoring the baby and the strength of my contractios. She ordered the drip be turned back on and by 6:20 I was ready to push surprisingly! I pushed until 7:20p and he was born! Let me tell you after labouring 18 hrs with no sleep or food your exhausted and pushi g was the hardest thing I felt like I ever had to do. But bare down AND JUST DO IT! Now my little man is here and all is perfect in my world..
