Anyone have her gallbladder removed?

I never had any issues (that I was aware of) before getting pregnant. I started getting gallbladder attacks during the beginning of July. Bottom line is, gotta get this sucker out. Surgeon told me to see him a few weeks after I've had the baby to schedule the surgery.

Has anyone experienced these painful attacks? Were there any weird remedies that worked for you during an attack? (Like drinking warm water and apple cider vinegar). What was the surgery and recovery like? How long after you had the baby did you go in for surgery?

Any advice or sharing your story would be appreciated!!! Thank you!!

I had mine out about 8 years ago (totally unrelated to pregnancy, this is my first). It was a quick surgery, maybe a few hours. Recovery was about 4 days. I was sore but it wasn't too bad. They removed it laparoscopically, which I think is the norm these days.

Had mine out several years ago. Nothing stopped attacks other than a super bland non fat diet. Recovery was fine back to normal within a week. I felt better almost instantly after my surgery. Just sore.

Had mine out and since it wasn't going to blow up I was able to wait to do the smaller sergery which left like three tiny scars and a week after I had it removed I was cleared to go back to work but since it was right before my students spring break I got to go a vacation! Some pain after but nothing bad, do get stool softener since number 2 will really hurt the first time or two.

I had mine taken out when my son was 3 months old. They said I had gastritis. I kept going back to the er.  Evasive I couldn't keep anything down. Not even water. Apparently I had so many gallstones they were backed into my pancreas. I had to have emergency surgery. The attacks were the worst. Most def level 10 pain.

I have gallstones! Discovered after an attack at 30 weeks pregnant! Eating like a church mouse until after baby is born, then it will be removed. Worst pain EVER! At 33.5 weeks now!

I was told I have gallstones durning this pregnancy. They suck!!  I agree with what someone else said about level 10 worse pain ever.

None fatty, no greasy food helps keep the attacks at bay. And eating smaller, but many meals throughout the day helps.

It's not fun, but the sooner I throw up after it starts, the sooner it ends.  It's still always last a few hours or more, and throwing up is never fun, but helps :(

I had mine removed about 4 years ago. I never had attacks while pregnant but recovery from the surgery is no that bad. It only really hurt me for about 3 days.

Had the same problem during my first pregnancy.

A) do NOT eat any rich or greasy foods- anything fatty will bring on attacks

B) ice cold milk helped a bit, but my attacks were so bad (level 10 worst pain I've felt in my life, literally screaming in pain- I delivered DD without an epidural and it wasn't nearly as bad!) that I ended up in the ER every time on morphine. Ultimately IV drugs were the only thing that really ended the attack... Or masked it until it ended I guess?

C) had my GB removed 3 weeks post-partum

I had the surgery due to an 85% blockage while 18 weeks prego (during my 2nd pregnancy). The surgery was quick, they did it laparoscopicly I was out in 45 minutes. They did monitor baby during and after surgery. The recovery wasn't too bad, the gas was the worst part. Get gas x right away and take your pain meds. I was feeling better after a week and back to normal about 2 weeks after.
