Should the medical insurance pay up?
A woman in Colorado says that her insurance company is refusing to cover a medical bill that is around $54,000. She tripped and fell in her home and sustained an orbital fracture. After being rushed to the hospital and having labs done, her alcohol blood level was twice the legal limit. Her insurance company states that they are denying payment because there is a clause in her plan that will deny payment if the injury is caused wholly or partially due being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Do you think that she should be able to sue her insurance company in order for them to cover the bill? Do you think that this clause should be removed from their policies?
