Menstrual cups in for 12 hours?!

So I've been considering getting a menstrual cup as everyone says they are great and you can keep them in for up to 12 hours, I was just wondering if that is possible on heavy days as I know I have to change my tampon every 2-3 hours on my heavy days but 12 hours with a menstrual cup?! Tell me your experiences with them please ladies.

I used to change tampons 4hrly for the first day and then 6hrly the second day. I got a menstrual cup about six months ago, the first day I put it in the morning, change it at about 2pm and then before I go to bed. For the rest of my period I change it when I get up and before I go to bed

On my heavy days (I was leaking through super plus tamps in 3 hours or less) with my cup I can go 6-8 hours before having to empty it out.

Heavy days I probably dump and clean it every 3-4 hours but that's just the first days in the first twelve hours. I never dump and clean it at night and don't have to as I don't bleed as much. But after the first day I just dump and clean it first thing in the morning and right before bed. It's so awesome
