Best type of mattress for cot?

We bought our cot ready for when baby will eventually go into her own room however it came without a mattress. Now we are stuck trying to pick what would be best!

So this woman explained it to me yesterday. You want to get a duel stage so you can go from infant to toddler if you have a convertible cot.

She said spring matresses are best when you plan on using them over and over again for multiple kids. I don't. I plan on each kid having their own mattress, therefor the wear and tear of foam wouldn't bother me.

Plus changing a foam bed in the middle of the night is apparenlty a ton easier than changing a spring bed because the mattress weighs less.
