Maxi Pads or Depends for Postpartum?

What will you be using? Or what have you used in the past that was most effective?

Anything else you recommend buying for post partum care?

I'm planning on a mixture of the hospital mesh underwear, Depends, & "giant ass maxi pads." 😀 It's my first pregnancy, but everything I've seen says to expect that it will be like a really heavy period for awhile, & since my periods are heavy to start with... I'm just planning for a tidal wave.  I also wanted to have a lot of options available on hand, because even with pictures provided to him, I know my well-meaning hubby wouldn't come back from the store with the proper items.  I figure I wanted to have a supply of different options, & then I can order refills from Amazon if needed.

I'm also planning on making a small batch of "padsicles" because I have friends that swear by them (aloe + witch hazel frozen on pads).  I also picked up a can of Dermaplast pain relieve spray & Tucks pads to help care for the land down under after birth...

Both! Midwife had me make "padcicles" to soothe and absorb, then I'll put those in depends. She told me to stick with the depends instead of worrying about ruining any undies.

My hospital always gives me enough extra elephant size pads for at home. But if your hospital doesn't you are going to want to get the biggest pads you can until the flow slows down.

I was like you but then I tried them on and they are pretty comfy. I thought they were going to be itchy and make my butt look huge but with jeans or even pijamas my butt looks the same, with maxi pads I feel like they move, they don't stick very well to the underwear and I need to be constantly checking for overflows. But you know... Is my personal experience. 😗

I used pads with all of my first 5.  I got heavy flow ones for night time.  Worked great and had no problems.

I use heaven night pads and the mesh underwear. It kept things in place but did not feel restricting since I had stitches. Also when choosing pads make sure to NOT get dri weave pads because of you happen to get stitches then they stitches get stuck to the dri weave.

Maxi pads were not enough for my bleeding back with my first. I ended up staining underwear and pants. This time I bought Depends and CVS disposables underwear trial boxes. Looking forward to keep my clothes blood free.

I got depends for the night time cuz I've learned at night it leaks more from tossing n turning and pads for the day cuz you change it more often

Last time I just used Kotex regular pads after I left the hospital. They don't need to be too big because who wants to sit in that log. Yuck. I'd rather have smaller and change more often.
