Leg amputation

My 2 month old dog just got her leg amputated yesterday and I've never experienced anything more traumizing. Ive been up all night helping her because all she's been doing is screeching and crying, trying to get up. I'm in so much pain just watching this happen and I feel like the worst person ever... but there's nothing I can do to help. Has anybody ever had their dog's leg amputated as well? How did it go & how'd you get over the mental pain of our little buddies being injured? 😭
