weird period on the pill?

I've been on the pill for 10 months. I usually have normal, on time (almost down to the hour) periods. This month I randomly started on the last day of my active pills. I was worried I was pregnant because to me it looked like implantation bleeding, but now it has turned into a full blown period. I thought these irregularities should have been gone by now? Should I switch pills/birth control when I go to the doctor in a month?
