finger foods?

Hey Mommas!

My son is 7months, I've been giving him solids for alittle over a month and he's doing great! Now I've read that we can start introducing finger foods if he's showing signs that he is ready.. like the pincher grasp which he does, and he has also mastered sitting up unassisted which seems to be the only position he wants to be in now! 
My question is have any of you moms started finger foods yet? And if so what are you giving and how is it going?

As a first time mom I obviously have a fear of choking so your advice would really help me and put me at ease!

My 7 month old doesn't eat more than a little snack a day. But she hates purées. So we do little soft pasta, soft cooked peas, carrots, green beans, potato. Fluffy scrambled eggs, tiny pieces of plain bread/pancake, banana, avocado... she just tried little pieces of asparagus tips tonight. 
Usually in the afternoon she will eat a little snack of one or two of those. And she hasn't liked any fruit besides banana. 
I'm not in a rush for her to eat more. She's growing great on breast milk. 😊

I give mine some banana çhunks sometimes or let him chew on fruit that I'm eating...his dad gave him some plain cheerios the other day but mostly just to play with, I think he only ate half of one O lol

My baby is almost 8 months and I just started finger foods as well. I do hard boiled egg yolk pieces, long strips of cooked butternut squash, long strips of baked apples and pears, (long strips are easy to hold) and pieces of pasta cut up. And puffs from whole foods. They dissolve super quick in their mouths and it's an easy mess free snack.

We are doing baby led weaning with my almost 7 month old. It's basically where you skip purees and just give him age appropriate and size appropriate foods (low in salt and sugar) from whatever you are eating for lunch/dinner as a family. You let the LO control how much and what he eats.

So far we've done finger shaped avocado, apples, cucumber, banana, toast, cooked carrots, etc. not much is off limits, including meat and pasta, any veggie or fruit! My little guy doesn't have the pincer grip down yet but is getting there and fully exploring and tasting everything we put in front of him!

My son started cereal at 6 weeks. Apple sauce and banana's at 8 weeks and so on. I give him pretty much everything we eat unless it's spicy.

Some mom's will call me an idiot. Cool. Some will see nothing wrong with it lol.

I give my son muffins. A noodle. Pieces of banana. Soft carrots. He's had birthday cake and ice cream for his big sis and big brothers bdays. He loves popsicles. He had a taste of French toast this morning.

Like I said pretty much anywhere eat that he can mush I'm his mouth we give. He had two bottom teeth..
