IUD questions

I'm nervous to get mine inserted sometime next week! I'm 17 so I could go alone, but I'm afraid of the pain. I'm getting the Skyla. I'm thinking about taking my Dad but I'm not sure if he's going to be uncomfortable. My mom is mad that I'm getting it (why? Who knows with her!) so she definitely won't go. I'm afraid to make my boyfriend go. He's very... Sensitive and protective with me. I'm not sure how he would handle seeing me in pain. Has anyone gone alone? also, how do I put the initial bleeding on Glow? If it's going to last for months is it all spotting? Do I still add periods? And do I add it as a medication?
