M y 18 mo old has this car seat and I love it!

But I am now pregnant with the 2nd baby... and I am totally stuck on whether to buy the traditional travel system for my new baby. Or to just buy this car seat and then a double stroller. Need opinions?

I personally despise the pumpkin seats. (Car seats with handles that are easily transportable.) They're bulky, heavy and awkward. Once baby has any weight whatsoever they're just a pain in the ass. The all-in-one seats generally have better safety ratings and save you money. I don't understand spending the money on a car seat to just use a few months. Yes, it's convenient in some ways. But those all have to do with carrying your baby. Why so many people have an aversion to touching/carrying their babies is beyond me.

We are getting this one for our baby girl which looks like the one you have. We decided to jus tho straight to the convertible seats because of the fact we have to get two car seats and adding a infant seat is just more money. We live in Northern California and although it gets colder, it never gets REALLY cold so I'm not worried about that. I'm not really worried about having to take her in and out either.

Just wanted to post a picture so you can see what I have. I plan to put my daughter in the front and then the baby in the back so I can see both of them while walking

Check the weight and height restrictions on the seat you wanna buy, if your baby is too small you can't use it and will have to buy the other kind of seat anyway, also check with your hospital because they may not let you take your baby home in the type of car seat in the picture. I saved my daughters old car seat, still in perfect condition and already have a double stroller so I don't have to purchase anything. My opinon would be to just buy the carrier car seat and a double stroller, but you will later have to buy the convertible car seat anyway. I do think it's easier if you start with the carrier car seat because if your baby falls asleep you can just pop the car seat out and put in the stroller. I have the graco double stroller, a Diono car seat for my 13 month old and a graco carrier car seat.

Decide what's easiest for your family. If you buy a travel set then is your 18 month old baby okay with walking long and short distances if need be? Do you walk often or drive? If your kid gets tired is there another adult available to push them in a different stroller? These are questions you can ask yourself and then determine what is the best choice. I don't want to know the answers just some questions for you to ask yourself and consider
