Is giving birth as sore as people make out? I know everyone has different

I was terrified of the pain. I had two doses of diamorphine AND and an epidural 😩 so I only felt a tiny bit of pain as the diamorphine was wearing off and that was enough for me. This time around id like to have a more natural drug free birth but so afraid 😩

I had an unmedicated delivery and it was not as painful as I had expected it to be. The contractions were all-consuming and intense but very manageable. Pushing was not painful at all and actually felt amazing bc so much pressure was being released. The only excrutiatingly painful part was when my son's shoulder was stuck so my midwife had to put her hand inside me while my son's head was coming out but that's not a common occurrence so don't worry about it. I did not tear so recovery, again, was not as painful as I had expected it to be. I have been a bit sore but at three weeks postpartum I still have not had to take any medication for pain.

I had visitors while I was in labor and right after before we even moved to a recovery room. Pretty much once we were cleaned up lol

It is rough afterwards if you have an epidural. But not as bad during. The contractions are very intense. It depends if you get pain relief or not.

I was in labor for 41 hours and had to have forceps assist in delivery and I still think the recovery is worse than actually giving birth. I'm exactly 7 weeks postpartum today and I'm still achy down there.
