Timing of "20 week" ultrasound?

I am 11 weeks today, and just got the full list of appointments from my doctor's office (they schedule everything all at once). Anyway, they don't have the "20 week" ultrasound scheduled until the day before I will be 23 weeks. Is this normal? We are not planning on doing the early genetic testing (when I know a lot of people find out gender), and I just don't know if I can wait until 23 weeks! It seems most of my friends (and sisters) have had theirs at 18-20 weeks, so I'm thinking about calling to see if I can get it moved up a couple weeks unless there's actually a medical reason to wait that long... would love to hear any feedback! Thanks!

Due to the timing of the appts and the fact that they won't do the ultra sound before I'm 20 wks mine will end up being 21 wks. You might be able to get it done sooner if you call and ask but if you truly want to find out the gender sooner rather than later you could just find a location that offers gender ultrasounds early and pay out of pocket. Last time we paid $75 and found out at 14 wks. And then went to a different place a week later just to make sure the first one was right. This time we will be paying $85 to the second place we went to and they can do it as early as 15 wks so we will probably go just as soon as I hit the 15 wk mark.

My midwife won't schedule them too because many times they can't see what they need to and have to have a follow up ultrasound... so then they get pushback from the insurance company asking them not to schedule something that has to be done twice.

But they do schedule the 20 wk for 20 wks, obviously that's when it's supposed to be;)

I would call and ask if there's an earlier appointment. If they are sending you to a specialist,  they might just be THAT booked.

Why don't you call them and ask ? It doesn't hurt and maybe they will just tell you they can move you up ?
I did the early gender test so I know I definitely couldn't wait that long to find out !
