small baby?????!!!!!!

Question

Anyone else have a small baby? My baby girl is 5 months and is 11 pounds and 24in long..... I worry so much that something is wrong we have a second appointment with the gastroenterologist on the 17th because when she was about 2 months she had surgery for pylaricstynosis and if she doesn't gain enough by the time we go back we will be doing blood work. Can anyone relate and make me feel a little better ??

My daughter just turned 3 and is 24 lbs. She went thru test after test as an infant because she was putting on weight so slowly. I used to worry so much. She was formula fed but never made it past a 4-5 oz bottle... I worried myself sick.. but after being tested for literally everything multiple specialists could think of, we now know that she's just tiny. She also had some (albeit minor) gastrointestinal problems as well.

My daughter was tiny, she's 7 years old now and to me she's still tiny..my niece is a year younger than her and is not only taller but wears clothes that are about 2 sizes bigger...as long as she's healthy I think she's fine :)

As long as she plays and laughs there's nothing wrong. You cannot compare a more heavily built African American baby to a more lightly built Japanese baby.

If she doesn't laugh or play, and is clearly weak and needs much sleep, then it might be better to take her to the doctor. 
But if she's happy and all sunshine then what does her weight matter?

My baby's not born yet, but I was just having dinner with a friend who has two girls, ages 5 & 1.5, & she was telling me how her girls have always been & continue to be in the 5th percentile for both height & weight. She & her husband are both on the smaller side, & the girls are totally healthy & doing fantastically well-- some babies are just small!

My baby won't be here for a few more months, and I'm not a doctor but I think babies are just like us. Some are smaller and some are bigger.
