Does it ever "click" for men? if so when?

So I'm trying my hardest not to be frustrated with my fiancé, we went to get a bedside crib from babies r us yesterday and he's reading on his phone the whole time. He didn't see the purpose of a baby shower until he saw all the things we got from it. He has yet to suggest or get anything for the baby. I hate thinking about the stereotype that men don't care or depend on us to figure it out. He keeps saying " we still have a whole month." I keep telling him the dd is an estimated guess babies come when they are ready. I asked him in the beginning if this is something he wanted of course he said yes . Sorry so long kind of venting. Any suggestions?
