I clicked wrong I ment same amount of gifts right now kids are 9&5 ....little one don't understand value of $$ but does know how many there are.

4 kids ages 7, 5, 4, 3 and they get the same number. As they get older it seems to get more expensive ?

We go by the 5 gifts from Santa and one gift from mom and dad. The more expensive gift is from us. Santa brings basic toys like dolls and cars...

I think when it comes to more than 1kid they notice "someone got more"
But for my niece, shes the only grandchild so she gets spoilt. Otherwise the youngest of us is my sister and shes 15. 
But I usually buy whats adds up, so someone might get one more thing than other but cost the same as the one thing some else got.

Kids definitely look for quantity not quality. When they get older they become more into quality but not for my tots. All they see is "She got more than me!"

Kids count how many gifts they've gotten (even if it's just 5-10$ gifts), not the dollar amount...so I try to make it equal.

My parents have always spent the same $ amount. Especially with us older kids wanting less but more expensive, and my younger siblings wanting more but less expensive
