Birth control or Nuva ring....etc

So several years ago before I was really sexually active I went on the pill. Now I have a good reason to want to be on the pill again, but I'm worried because my side effects of this pill were what caused me to get off of it. So if you ladies out there know of any other contraceptive methods that work (I want your first hand experience stories). I also want the best product that will keep my future babies safe and out of jeapordy.
