Pros & cons of induction

I have had one before. Tried explaining as best I could to my husband the experience for me how it went. This is our first baby together but he doesn't treat my other baby any different, you would think we had her together. I am able to be induced with this pregnant a week early so at 39 weeks which for me is December 18-24th. I'm due the 25th. I personally am okay with the idea, I just don't like being confined to a bed, I didn't get to experience my own dilation process, I didn't get to experience my water breaking. My husband wants the full blown experience but is okay with induction if that's what I want to do but feels scared of the outcome had we not waited just another week. My issue is I don't want my daughter to spend Christmas away from us which are her parents. Plus his mother is super controlling and wants to do Christmas at the house without us if I'm in the hospital which she's my baby & that isn't fair to us to miss anything. We could move Christmas her Christmas or I just be induced. Anyways I don't like the control his mother is putting on the situation and she thinks she can change our plans. She says we can play it by ear whenever I talk about it because we don't know when our baby will come. The doctor appoved me to go at 39 weeks as long as I'm dilated at least 1-2cm or more. So I am hoping by that time dilation has occurred. How ever I would like to know pros and cons of induction.
