OK ladies so I have had bv twice this pregnancy and I took a round of antibiotics two times. (It was still there after the 1st round of antibiotics) So after the second round I asked my midwife if I could get a swab to make sure it was actually taken care of and not still there. She told me there was no need to test again because she doesn't want to hit the baby with any more antibiotics than she has to since its not good for the baby. She also said that shes not worried about the bacteria duting birth because when my water breaks there will be a wash of my canal from the amniotic fluid.. But I'm starting to get a little worried about it, I feel like I still have it, I've lost my mucus plug (or pretty close to all of it based on what I've seen come out) and I know that the plug is a barrier to keep bacteria out. I'm worried that the bacteria will make its way through my cervix and into the uterus since my plug is gone, I keep thinking "what if my water has a slow leak and that bacteria gets to the baby"... Ive been having little gushed of very watery discharge and ive gone to l&d but it always tests negative for amniotic fluid and it ends up being a waste of time. Any other moms gone through something like this or know anything about it? I'm 37 weeks 5 days. My 3rd pregnancy.
