When should I announce my pregnancy??

I'm only 10 weeks with our first baby currently and just a handful of really close friends and my immediate family know right now. My husband and  I are thinking of announcing to our family's soon.  The day we plan on telling the first half of his family is the Oct 16, and I will be about 12-13 weeks then. I'm just wondering if that is to early, I have an ultrasound the next day, but we're not going to get that side of the family together until probably thanksgiving. My side of the family will be finding out Oct 22.
Just wondering what everybody's thoughts are on the timing, is it too soon??

Do it whenever you want. I was 3 weeks pregnant when we told everyone. I don't see why everyone thinks there is a right and wrong time to do it.

Well we decided I was better to have a bunch of support than have to deal with it alone

Tell people when you feel like you want it. Dont think about what you should be doing or what seems to be correct, share it when you want to and take in the love you get from your support system. Sometimes people regret not telling anyone sooner because you can either get more support sooner for the amazing process of pregnancy, or heaven forbid - if things go south you can have support and understanding during your time of need.

We waited till I was 12/13 weeks. We just wanted to wait till the second trimester and first ultrasound as well. 
It's our first and first grandbaby on both sides.

I'm 22.4 weeks and we haven't made formal announcements. Just kinda word of mouth. Our families know, but I didn't find out I was pregnant until I was 3 months

That's perfect!! You'll be past the major risk stage. As long as your doc says all is good, I'd feel totally comfortable announcing then :)
