severe gas pain

I haven't slept good in almost 6 days. It's been a maximum of 3 hrs a night if I'm lucky. I have really bad gas pain with no relief in sight. I have it all day. I'll burp and feel good for about 2 mins and more gas fills my tummy. I'm miserable. My doctor said it was heartburn and prescribed me something but I know it's gas. Plus the medication does nothing. Am I alone in this?!
