Help !! How can I get baby to take a bottle??

Question

My lo is 4 months old and has been ebf the whole time. My hubby and I want to go out for dinner in November for his birthday, so we need lo to take a bottle from my mum, but he refuses to take the bottle, we have tried a few breast like bottles but he just spits it out and then crys constantly.

Any advice or tips would be great. Thanks x

My EBF babe takes Avent natural bottles with no issues... Though she has taken a pacifier as her soothier since birth which may have helped. Two of the biggest things I can suggest is that mommy can't give them the bottle and sometimes you can't even be in the room when someone is trying to give it to them. It may work better if it isn't even at your home. For instance, my Mom gave my daughter her first bottle at her house. Babies can sense you are there and even smell you which makes them want you, not the weird thing being stuck on their mouth. The second thing is that you can't do it when they are hungry. When they are super hungry the last thing they want to do is learn how to take food out of a fake nipple. It's frustrating when all they want is to eat but they can't figure out how. Do it when they should soon be hungry but aren't showing signs of hunger yet. Take the bottle, let a drip of milk on the nipple, and run the nipple from the top of the lips (so right under the nose) to the bottom lip. This let them smell your milk and feel the nipple. Also some EBF babies want to be held like they are being breastfed when they take a bottle and some EBF babies dont want to be held like that because they expect Mom and get frustrated. It all depends on the baby. Hope this helps!!

I'm having the same issue! I have started pumping during his morning nap and he usually sleeps for about 2 hours then when he wakes up he's happy and I feed him the bottle. We've been doing that for about 5 days now. I was trying to have daddy give it to him in the evening when he got home from work but it just wasn't working bc he was so tired and hungry at that point and just wanted the boob haha. So it doesn't neccessarily have to be someone other than you. That didnt work for us.

My 14 week old is the same! We have tried avent, tommie tippie, platex, and comotomo. The comotomo is the closest we have come to her taking a bottle. I will be honest we haven't tried in a few weeks now and it doesn't super stress me out bc I'm always with her, but it would be nice to have the option so I would love to see what other ppl say!

I'm facing the same dilemma but she is adjusting to it. 
1. Have someone else give her the bottle after pumping 1-2oz fresh. 
2. Give it to her BEFORE she is hungry (45mins-hour before) not when she's fussing to eat because then it's just a mess. 
 3. Warm the nipple in warm water 
4. Place the nipple on babies lips and let them explore a little bit.

That's all I got so far. But main thing is start off with an oz or two, don't expect to do a full feed the first time around. Mine is still not on a bottle but I'm EBF and I'm always home so I'm kinda lazy with the pumping..I'm trying to incorporate one oz a day the last few days and she doesn't seem to mind it so far.. but eats like crazy when she gets on the boob. Also. I'm using a tommee tippee (spelling?) they can actually "latch" onto the nipple it's so big. Good luck! I'm following for more tips with my own! 💋
