Mirena??

My baby is almost 7 weeks and I'm going back on some kind of birth control, my doctor has recommended The Mirena as I'm breastfeeding. I have read all kinds of good reviews and bad reviews on it. Has anyone here actually used it and how was it for you?

I had the mirena IUD for 10 years before getting pregnant. I swear by it and got another one put in at 6 weeks. I can't say enough good things about it. I went 17 months without a period and got my period the day I had it removed and got pregnant 2 months later.

I had Mirena for 3.5 years and mostly loved it. Zero periods, woohoo! My skin was awful though, it gave me bad acne. And I developed painful ovarian cysts, so basically some months I was still curled up in pain even without a period. Also randomly it made me itchy in the lady bits, like I had an infection? Super weird..it all went away after having it removed! Not trying to scare you, just being informative. :) All in all I really liked it..I mean not having to worry about a pill, condom, etc was GREAT! I'm getting Paragard put in on Monday..my doctor said it's the same as Mirena, minus all those nasty side effects because it's hormone free! Hoping I end up liking it too. Good luckď

I have it got it in about a month after birth and had it for about 6 weeks have have spotted constantly & have stomach cramps often 😿

I would not ever reccomend that while breast feeding. I had it with my first and it was awful it rejected after 3 months, dried me up, caused me to gain my weight back, and I was bleeding heavily the first time. I know this isn't the case for everyone but I've heard more bad than good. Get mini pill if anything

Hi all! Thanks for all your responses. I got Mirena in on October 20th, spotted for a couple days then started my 1st period since having baby on the 24th and have had it since- 10 days now. Also I have been crying a lot and feeling so hormonal and emotional. My baby is 11 weeks old tomorrow and up until I had the Mirena I had been feeling great (no ppd). I'm wondering if I should just get it out already, I hate feeling like this.

Mirena was great for me! Had it about a year in a half.. took it out and got pregnant 5 months later.. I loved the fact that I didn't have periods but I was always afraid of it getting lost inside me. I will be getting it again this time around.

I'm scared so I'm going with birth control pills instead but since I'm breastfeeding they don't have hormones in them!

I had it for 5 years. Loved it, had no issues at all. Had it removed and was able to get pregnant right away, first pregnancy was a missed miscarriage, but got pregnant again relatively easy and now have a 7 week old beautiful boy.

I was on Mirena for almost 4 yrs never had a period and didn't gain any weight at all I loved it no side effects either I'm getting mine in Wednesday I'm ready for it because this pull out method my husband has me on right now has me nervous

I'm getting mine inserted next Wednesday. I'm a little anxious but I didn't trust being on the lo dose BCP and my fiance is too stubborn to wear condoms, hence why we got pregnant in the first place.
