Scary induction with a happy ending

Lindsay
I was induced on Monday at 40+3 weeks. I got cytotec inserted at 10:30 at night. By 1:30 I was having strong contractions at 1-2 minutes apart and was dilated 1 cm. By 2:30 I was dilated 2-3 cm and started to vomit, after I got sick the first time my water broke. My contractions were off the charts at 4 cm and I asked for an epidural. My epidural worked everywhere except a small spot between my hips and I had to be re-dosed 4 times to get through my labor. By 5 in the morning I was 7 cm dilated and vomiting bile multiple times and hour. I was 10 cm by 11:45 and started to push. I pushed for 3 hours and after pushing and having nurses push on my stomach, and the vacuum, I finally got my baby girl out. She's 8 pounds 3 ounces and 21 inches long and I got a second degree tear. This isn't where my story ends. I started hemorrhaging. The sewed me up but the bleeding wouldn't stop, I ended up in the ICU for a blood transfusion. I lost over a quart of blood and was close to death. Overnight I made, according to doctors, a miraculous recovery. Other than my kidney function not being 100% I pulled through with no real damage to my body. The doctors said that after a particularly difficult and traumatic labor, the body can deplete itself of the chemical that clots your blood which is exactly what my body did. After all is said and done my daughter was worth it all and I am so in love, however, my husband and I decided that being the talk of the labor and delivery floor is not something to aspire to and we will not be having another little one!
