need advice

I recently just got out of a a really good relationship that became complicated once he went away for school as of right now we aren't together but we would both want to get back together once I go to the same school. So my question is should I just enjoy being single and go out with cute guys that ask me out on dates or do I not ? Like I know that he has hooked up with another girl since he got up there and he says he doesn't want anything with those girls but I don't know what to do. So if you guys could help me out I would really appreciate it!
