I'm looking to see who on here has had an SO that had an affair and tried to make things work.  How did it end for you? Did you work things out, or eventually go your own ways? How did it effect you?  What did you learn and what advice would you have for someone going through what you went though. I'm looking for success stories, but will hear from anyone. Tia!

He cheated on me a year ago. I wouldn't call it a full affair as it was short lived. We've stayed together and I won't lie it has been hard, really hard. He's done absolutely everything I've asked of him and continues to try. I'm just not a forgiving person by nature, I've been really hard on him and we are still trying to find our new normal. My advice? You can work towards forgiveness all you want but if he's not truly sorry and not willing to do whatever it takes to regain a good relationship it won't work. He has to show he's sorry... Words are just words at this point. As for you, take a good hard look at yourself. Ask yourself these questions (and be  very honest with yourself) 1. Do I want this? 2. Am I even capable of forgiveness? 3. What changes need to be made in this relationship to be successful?  That will give you your start.  I wouldn't wish this crap on my worst enemy and I'm sorry you're going through it. It's a tough road but you can end up stronger individually and as a couple.  Good luck.

It's a very tough situation. I'm sorry you're having to go through it.  I haven't delt with it personally but someone very near and dear to me is currently going through a similar situation.  I'm sure it's very different for each couple, but I wanted to wish you the very best of luck.❤️

My ex husband was unfaithful. 
My advice is to leave an unfaithful spouse. Some couples make it work. But it requires so much out of a cheating spouse that the odds are strongly against it. If you are selfish enough to cheat it's unlikely you will be able to do the hard work to repair things. 
Personally I tried far too long to fix things. So much counseling and so many chances. I ended up depressed, with eating disorders, no self worth, insecurities and major issues that I still deal with today. Affairs destroy innocent people. My ex was also verbally and emotionally abusive. It's my experience that it's common for those to go together.

I was the one who made the huge mistake and had the affair, but after finally coming clean and a lot of fights lots of nights of having to stay at my dads we finally have gotten semi back to normal.

My bf cheated on me 7 years ago, he got her pregnant. I broke up with him but we kept in touch, after 6 years I could see how different he was and how much of a better person. He's now completely open with me, always leaves phone out in case I want to look at it, and nights out are only for the two of us together. I honestly don't believe he'd ever do it again, especially now we have our little boy arriving in January
