Postpartum depression?

If you have ppd, do you constantly feel depressed or do you feel normal most of the time and get a wave of sadness come over you sometime during the day?

Answer

For me it was sheer sadness that I could not shake. I hated being a mom (at the time) and felt in the pit of my stomach that I had made the worst decision of my entire life. It didn't help that my baby was so fussy all the time either. When I started having bad thoughts is when I decided I needed help. Meds helped me a ton and when my son got less and less fussy I started feeling better. Being a mother is hard! I knew before I left the hospital I didn't feel right. If you're feeling off at all I would talk to your ob about getting help.

Answer

Depression is a near constant thing. If you are feeling sad, are no longer interested in things you love, find it difficult to get out if bed, or are thinking about hurting yourself or others call a doctor. It is normal to be a little emotional right now because all of your hormones are still out of whack.
