Picking a school

I was lucky enough to do a traineeship at Summerhill Democratic School in Suffolk ten years ago and ever since I've known that I wanted my children to have the chance to study there. However now that the time has come to start talking about our child's education my partner won't even consider Summerhill. Not because he disagrees of boarding schools or the democratic approach but because he doesn't want our daughter to be the weird kid who doesn't attend a normal school. He has even told me he'd rather have her attend a state school and "be bullied like everyone else" (she's a gifted child who learnt to read at 22 months old) than have a "hippy" education.

This argument seems to be going on forever and it's really damaging our relationship in a way that I didn't think possible. I don't know what to do.
