mini pill, possible pregnancy

Hey! I am a mom to a five month old little boy and I am on the mini pill. Honestly, I have not taken it as carefully as I should. Anywho, I wouldn't mind getting pregnant again but I'm just going with whatever happens, happens. Last night the husband and I had sex and I realized later that I had forgotten to take the pill in the morning. I'm wondering if I should take one now? I heard that using the mini pill during early pregnancy can cause birth defects. Should I hold off on taking it and just wait to see if I possibly got pregnant? My period ended two days ago and my cm is watery.
