Skipped a period?

Is it possible to completely skip a cycle? I am always regular but currently 2 weeks late with bfns since 3 days ago... I did not confirm ovulation this cycle (I usually do but wanted less stress this go around - now look where it got me) ... I'm waiting for my doctor to return my call but is this normal? Do I continue on as if this was fertile week (which it would be if I had a regular cycle)
