Would you or do you discipline your children by hitting them?

Not sure if you mean hitting or spanking, which are two different things to me. I put no, I wouldn't hit my child. I would spank them on the butt though.

I see hitting and spanking as two very different things. Spanking is specifically on the butt generally 2-3 swats, and is my last resort of discipline. I have popped (just one little pop) or flicked them on the mouth if they are spitting or back talking to me. Just enough to get my point across that it is unacceptable to do that.

I grew up in a physically abusive house so have strong views against hitting as I know what it feels like to be some adult's punching bag 😕However, I get that when they're super young (you can't have a reasonable discussion with them), it MAY be ok to lightly spank (like 1-2 swats on the bottom) but I would use as a last resort and for really serious issues (setting something on fire, doing something that hurt/could seriously hurt someone, etc). FTM, due in Feb, so praying our son is an angel!

No way could I lay my hands on my kid or my future stepbabies! They have never been spanked and they are all the most polite kids ever. Why use force if it isn't necessary?

Nope. Discipline doesn't need to involve laying hands on my son. We talk a lot, he gets natural consequences, and I have a really damn awesome 8 year old, if I do say so myself.
