is it just hormones and nerves talking?

I'm 19 and gonna be going off to college soon. My boyfriend is 18 and is going to be leaving for the service in June. I don't know if it hormones, or nerves, but after being together for three years, I kinda of want to start a family with him now. Logic tells me to wait and that's what I obviously want to do (I think) because of him being gone and me going off to college, but I honestly feel like we need to move on from whatever we have now and start our own little family. Is this seriously hormones and nerves or is it possible that my body and heart is teeling me that we're ready to have a child in our lives? Has anyone else been in this kind of a situation and felt the need and want of a child?
