Mother in law almost stop your marriage?

Did your now mother in law almost affect you marrying your spouse? I love my boyfriend but I really dislike bjs mom. What did you do if/when she interfered with your decision?

Not a fan of my fiancés mother... She is super controlling and tells me how I should live my life with my kids and what we should be doing as parents.... 😒

She talked my husband out if it and he called off the wedding. He asked me to marry him offically a month later. She said that she wasnt trying to talk him out of it just trying to make sure he was sure. But whateves we have been married 6yrs... her and i are cool now. But man that was annoying

She never clearly said it but I could tell she didn't want me marrying her son lol I knew her since I was like 9 or 10 years old and is my moms best friend but as soon as we started dating she changed. What helped tho was that my SO has always been on my side. She still does things that irk me but like I said my hubby doesn't let her get away with things so that has helped. I think it would be way harder if he didn't side with me.

My MIL is in another country so no. But in my last relationship where i was going to get married my ex MIL openly stated that she refused to take any part in our wedding and that started a domino effect w his siblings and it affected us well him mainly and me because i cared about him. In the end i just understood it wasnt Gods will and i walked away. I didnt leave him because of her. But she was def in the way
