Ultrasound prep?

With my first baby (8 years ago) they had me drink a million ounces of water before my gender scan, is that still the rule? They didn't give me info and I forgot to ask and now they will be closed all weekend and my appointment is Monday morn, what did you all do??

Whaaaat? I've never heard of that. Had my first baby 7 years ago, last one 1,5 and now prego with twins.. never had to do anything before an ultrasound

It really depends on the office, this is my 5th baby and I have never had to have a full bladder for the 20 week ultrasound. I'd call the office to double check that way you aren't uncomfortable if you don't have to be. Chances are if no one told you to have a full bladder you don't have to.

I think so. I went on for a elective scan a couple weeks ago and told the tech I needed to use the restroom. She told me it was better to have a full bladder.

The techs do like you to drink water and have some urine in bladder bc it makes it a little easier for them. However they don't want you uncomfortable bc they don't wanna have to stop bc you have to pee lol. I had my scan on Tuesday. Got there and had to pee. I went and the lady gave me a cup of water to drink in the mean time while waiting to go back. Once I was back I went pee again (I had a long wait) but left a little for the tech and my test took so long that I stopped and emptied bladder to get My baby to move to find out sex. So it's all preference i guess, just talk to the tech when you get there.

They made me drink so much before hand it actually hurt (badly) when they pressed on my bladder

They don't make you drink water like you used to. You don't have to do anything. Before I go, I always have something to eat and drink like orange juice to have baby active
