Eternity ring?

Hi ladies :) 
So my fiance and I have been engaged for nearly 2 years now and are trying to save for our wedding.

But we've been through such a hard time lately and thankfully we've come out on the other side. So this is where the eternity ring comes in.

Do you think its okay to have an eternity ring before marriage?

Is it the same concept as a promise ring? If so then I'd stay not to get one because your already engaged
